At STAR Dental, we’re happy to offer patients a wide variety of specialized services, restorative treatments, and cosmetic solutions. However, our top goal when caring for you and your family is to help you avoid needing these options altogether. Dr. Whitney Davidson and the rest of our staff want you to enjoy a happy, healthy smile for life, and that can be accomplished with the vital support of our preventive care. Please contact our office today if you have any questions, or if you’re ready to schedule an appointment.
Children and adults should attend at least two routine checkups a year. During this process, our team will take digital X-rays, provide necessary screenings, and perform a visual examination of your teeth, gums, jaw, bite, existing restorations, and more. Once we have all of this information at our disposal, Dr. Davidson can work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your needs.
Regular hygiene appointments are also very important. Plaque is constantly forming over your teeth, causing damage and increasing the likelihood of cavities. While it can be cleared away with diligent brushing and flossing, missed areas can develop hard deposits over time. Our experienced hygienists thoroughly clean these areas away and leave your mouth healthy and refreshed.
Do you wake up with a sore jaw or dull and thumping headache? These signs could indicate that you’re grinding and clenching your teeth as you sleep, which is known as a condition called bruxism. When this issue is left unchecked, it could cause serious harm to your smile, like broken or worn-down teeth that are more susceptible to decay and other developing problems. At STAR Dental, we offer customized nightguards that will protect your teeth as you sleep, so you won’t have to worry about waking up with a dental emergency on your hands.
Fluoride is a naturally-occurring mineral that’s produced by rocks and can be found in fresh fruits and vegetables as well as the air. It has been shown to strengthen the outermost protective layer of the teeth, called the enamel, reducing the risk of cavity development in both children and adults. If you’re at a higher risk of decay or aren’t receiving enough fluoride in your daily diet, we offer fluoride treatments to fortify and strengthen your teeth. The process is fast, simple, and completely painless.
Oral cancer can become a deadly disease if it’s left to spread to other areas of your body. Our goal is to spot the early signs of this condition to increase the chance of successful treatment. That’s why we conduct routine oral cancer screenings at each of your checkups and cleanings every six months. During this process, we’ll thoroughly examine your lips, oral tissues, neck, and oral cavity in search of common symptoms. If we spot anything suspicious, we’ll immediately refer you for additional testing.
